As part of the commemoration of the World Holocaust Remembrance Day, which is celebrated every year on January 27, we opened the exhibition and discussion Auschwitz – a place on Earth: Auschwitz Album within the project “Shoah, we remember, 2026” in the premises of the Maribor Cultural Center, the former Nazi prisoner of war camp Stalag XVIII D.
After an interesting tour of the exhibition and the opening, the director of the Maribor Synagogue, Boris Hajdinjak, gave a lecture “The Red Army as the Liberator of Auschwitz”, where he presented, among other things, horrific footage of the Soviet army at the liberation. Historian Dr. Daniel Siter also spoke about the most notorious concentration camp, Auschwitz, and the Holocaust in general. This was followed by an interesting discussion between the lecturers and the audience.
